Field Trip

Today we took another field trip with our friends, the Catalanos. Kristen is taking a photography class and needed to get 10 photos that form a story. We took our 4 little models and headed out to create a story. Our first idea was to trace the steps of "Make Way for Ducklings," but neither of us own the book (a travesty) and it is MIA from Nashua Public Library. Kristen did find one called "Journey Around Boston" so we kind of used that and took pictures of the kids with some of the landmarks in it.

We took the T, which thrilled the children. The sights, sounds and smells brought back many ENC memories for me!

We picnicked on the Commons. There were a few aggressive pigeons and finches, but nothing we couldn't handle after the stalker we had at the zoo! (see post from April or May)

We watched the swan boats. You know, rides were really not as expensive as I thought they would be, so we did it. Funny, unless someone took me when I was too young to remember, I think this was my first swan boat ride. So it was a first for all of us...adults included!

We staged a few poses with the book like we were trying to decide where to go next.

We tried to get some pictures with the "Make Way for Ducklings" statues. I hope Kristen got a good one for her class because mine are questionable. The kids wouldn't just sit. They kept running and changing ducks...and other tourists were starting to get irritated. So we moved on.

We then walked back through the Commons to Park Street station to head home. Again, the subway was a hit for the kids, though maybe not for our fellow passengers. By this point the sun and heat and fresh air had caught up with everyone. Kristen and I thought sure we'd have 4 sleeping kids on the drive home, but NO ONE even dozed off! Hopefully they'll sleep well tonight and maybe even sleep a bit later into the morning.
