Running at the Speed of Life

Phew! Where do I start?

Tuesday was both my birthday and the day Dave would leave of the first of 3 (maybe 4) business trips in 4 weeks. He didn't have to be in Boston until noontime, so we had a breakfast date for my birthday. The week went just fine. Highlights include Dave jumping into Boston Harbor for money and me installing a digital/programmable thermostat myself. I did a great job installing it, but the furnace now seems to be running independently from it. We have to manually turn the furnace off and on by its switch. This will not work all winter...I think we might need to make a phone call! I'm usually pretty handy. Something has gone awry.

Dave returned Friday night and we set out to savor all of Saturday, the only day we'll have with him before he takes off for L.A. Sunday morning. Oh - that was another mishap. The birthday party for my side of the family for myself, my aunt and Dave is scheduled for Sunday evening. Hmmm. Well, his loss. Now he has to wait and celebrate his birthday at the December 6th birthday party with my Mom and Megan!

First thing Saturday morning we were up and out for Nick's belt graduation at karate. We're so proud of him! He is now a red/black belt. He has one more year of training until he becomes a black belt candidate, then (because black belt testing only takes place once a year) a full year of training until he obtains his black belt. This week he's actually testing to become part of the school's Leadership Team. We're really impressed by not only his skills, but also his commitment and his persistence.

I had to leave for work mid-graduation. Dave and the kids came to my store bearing my birthday gift...a new camera! Sweet! Dave picked the model and I'm pretty sure Megan picked the color...pink!

As soon as I got out of work we get the kids dressed in their costumes and headed to the church for the "Slime Time Fall Fam Jam." It was kind of like a carnival. The kids had a great time and hauled plenty of treats.

The kids are now in bed, Dave is washing his clothes and putting them back in his suitcase and I'm trying to think of what I need to do next to make tomorrow run smoothly. On the docket: church, angel practice, birthday party. Endless fun around this house! Life is never boring.
