F Words

Fall Family Fun on the Farm!

What a gorgeous weekend!!! Saturday morning we actually motivated ourselves to get moving and clean out our garage/carport/storage thingy. Dave made took two very large loads of junk and broken toys to the dump. Megan found a dead squirrel under Joey's sand & water table...fantastic. When we got all the "keep" stuff back in we could actually see what we have and know where it is! Yipee! Somehow in the midst of this, Nick ended up trying to make fire in the driveway, in his pajamas, by rubbing sticks together. Then he got the great idea of using a magnifying glass. He actually found a cheap plastic one in the family room. By this time Dave had returned and apparently wanted in on the action. They never actually got a fire going, but Nick was VERY enthusiastic about the process. He yelled all over the neighborhood, "We're making FIRE! We're making FIRE!!!" Nice.
It's Columbus Day weekend and schedules just didn't permit us getting to any sort of fair. Instead we went apple picking for a few hours. Parlee Farms had served us well for strawberries in June and then blueberries and raspberries in July, so we went back there. We had a great time! Pictures? I thought you'd never ask!

Apple cider doughnuts and a hay maze

I'll end with the kid quote of the day:

Megan was watching a Leap Frog learn-to-read video about the "Talking Words Factory." The little characters had made b-at, m-at, h-at, etc. Then they made z-at. Hold up! That's not a real word and only real words can go into the talking dictionary.
Mom: Yeah....that's a nonsense word. It follows the rule but isn't a real word.
Meg: Zat is a word.
Mom & Dad: No it's not.
Meg: Yes it is!
Dad: Well, what does it mean?
Meg: You know....like a pimple.

Heather,

Thanks for the laughs! I was also noticing that your daughter is looking more like Dave, only better looking with less hair!

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Great Pictures. I don't think I have ever seen dave as haapy as he looks with those apple cider donuts. They did smell good.
