Beautiful New England Farm

On Thursday of our vacation we again found ourselves scouring brochures for a fun family activity. The weather report was unsettled, but it wasn't actually raining. We spotted a brochure for a farm and "country doctor" museum just a few towns away, so we decided to give it a shot. In the interest of full disclosure, we also told the kids that (weather permitting) we'd do mini-golf and go-carts afterwards. Come to find out, the bribe was hardly necessary because the trip to the farm was FANTASTIC! It started off cold and damp, but the sun came out for a bit and by the end of the visit we were pretty toasty. We learned a lot and had fun. Admittedly, there were several references to Laura Ingalls Wilder books between Nick and I. It was fun to see many "Little House" things come to life!

Look here for details on the farm and museum itself...http://www.remickmuseum.org/

We poked around the museum part first. There was a working hand pump with a cut out so you could see how the whole thing works...
Upstairs in the old farm house there was a bedroom with dress up clothes in it...
The kids got to bottle feed a calf...
Then we took a guided tour of the farm...

The farm and museum are open year round and now the kids are asking about going in the fall or (especially) the winter when they harvest ice, etc.
